Orange Dominicana

Social Media

Caribbean Series Twitter Coverage

How It Started
In my early days working in social media, I combined my passion for baseball with digital platforms. During the 2012 Caribbean Series in Santo Domingo, I was hired by Orange Dominicana to provide sports content and real-time play-by-play coverage through their official Twitter platform.

At that time, using social media to cover sports live was still something new in the Dominican Republic. This opportunity gave me the chance to merge my background in baseball with a brand partnership that trusted me to represent them during one of the most important regional tournaments.

The Work

  • Provided live coverage of two daily games across the entire tournament.

  • Collaborated directly with the press staff of participating teams, ensuring fans received accurate, first-hand information in real time.

  • Balanced play-by-play reporting with brand integration, positioning Orange Dominicana as a relevant digital voice in sports.

The Results

  • Achieved strong impressions and reach for both my personal brand and for Orange Dominicana during the event.

  • Positioned the company as one of the first Dominican brands to leverage Twitter for live sports coverage.

  • My role and digital visibility earned me a nomination at the 2012 TwitAwards in the category of Sports Tweeter.

Highlights

  • One of my first professional experiences in digital sports media.

  • Helped pioneer real-time branded sports coverage on Twitter in the Dominican market.

  • Opened the door to new opportunities in sports content creation and digital partnerships.

Conclusion
Covering the 2012 Caribbean Series with Orange Dominicana was a milestone that set the foundation for my career in sports digital marketing. It showed me the power of combining live storytelling, brand integration, and social media engagement to connect with audiences at scale — a formula I would later expand with teams, athletes, and brands across the region.

⚡ This story is especially valuable because it demonstrates your early adopter role — before most teams or brands in the DR were using Twitter this way, you were already doing it.
